The Xbox mascot Voodoo Vince is back, bringing classic gameplay, updated graphics and other new features along with him. For gamers that have never experienced the game, now is the perfect time to jump into Vince’s twisted world. Read more about Voodoo Vince Remastered.
The game puts you in the threads of Voodoo Vince a loveable, smart-mouth voodoo doll that is on a mission to save his creator, Madam Charmaine, who has been kidnapped. Using Vince’s punch, jump and spin attacks you navigate through a cartoony, twisted version of New Orleans and the Bayou in order to rescue Charmaine from the clutches of her captors.
I’ve Put A Spell On You…
Vince is able to use an arsenal of over 25 unique “voodoo powers” to dispatch enemies, but in true voodoo doll fashion, doling out damage means you must inflict it on yourself first in order to take down your enemies. The game also spans over 30 levels with an interesting art direction and visual effects that will make you feel like you are playing through a dark Tim Burton film.
The adventures of our burlap little buddy also include taking the helm of vehicles such as an airplane, swamp boat, submarine and more in order to navigate through an assortment of mini-games.
A Familiar Face
The original creator of Voodoo Vince, Clayton Kauzlaric brought together a devoted dev team to resurrect the classic for a new generation with the goal of maintaining certain components of the cult classic. The team worked to faithfully restore the original game, making technical upgrades to art assets but keeping gameplay mechanics mostly untouched in order to pay homage to Vince’s original adventure from 13 years ago.
Voodoo Vince will see many upgrades since his first appearance in 2003, promising to look better than ever. The game will now be upscaled to 16:9 aspect ratio for wide screen televisions and display at 1080p resolution, running at 60fps, which should have the twisted version of the Bayou looking brilliant.
When Voodoo Vince was originally released online aspects to the Xbox platform like Xbox Live did not exist yet, in the new remastered version gamer profiles can log into the game and for the first time earn achievements on their journeys with Vince. The game will also be an Xbox Play Anywhere title meaning that if you purchase the digital version from your Xbox or PC it’s yours to play on either platform syncing your save progress between both.
The new graphical upgrades paired with the classic, untouched gameplay look to offer both newcomers and devout fans something to really look forward to this spring.
The 2003 Xbox classic puzzle platformer Voodoo Vince is available on Xbox One, Windows 10 PC and Steam now.
