LoL Season Info

6 Jan , 2018

As the groups are launched, we move ahead into a new season of CSL LoL for Spring 2018. Please read the following for general information regarding what to expect in the group stage and the playoffs.

The groups are now launched on the CSL site; note that groups were completely randomized and separate teams within a school count as completely separate entities and may be in the same group like in every season. All teams should make sure the CSL website is properly updated with your match shedules and that your team was not left out. Remember that Junior Varisty 2 is limited to Gold ranked players and under. If your opponent is illegally using higher ranked players, be sure to report it to the tournament admins!

A note for new teams, matches are played using tournament codes, which are accessible by the cooridnator of both teams. Note that the 2nd and 3rd tournament codes will take a minute to generate after the result of set 1 is automatically reported and stats are parsed.

In Junior Varsity 1, the top 3 teams in each group + 20 wilcards from the groups of 8 teams will advance to a 128-team single elimination playoff bracket culminating in a live final event.

In Junior Varsity 2, the top 4 teams in each group + 8 wildcards will advance to a 96-team single elimination playoff bracket (top teams will receive a 1st round BYE) culminating in an online finals.

As a reminder, every individual set counts! Playoff contention is often decided by set differentials and head-to-head results as there are normally a few tied records, so make sure to get as many round wins as possible, as give up as little as possible!

Finally, as another remember, any unreported matches on the CSL site will be counted automatic forfeit losses for both teams. If there is an issue with the tournament code API, remember to take screenshots and report the match to our tournament admins manually; forgetting to do so will only penalize your team. If the other team forfeits, be sure to file a forfeit request on the match page. You definitely do not want to drop out of playoff contention because of a simple mistake so double check every week that your coordinator has reported the match!

Division 1 Prize Pool Reminder:

  • Total – $10,000
  • 1st – $5,000
  • 2nd – $2,500
  • 3rd/4th – $1,250

If you have any questions, you can always email us at or speak to an admin live on DISCORD during our weekly help desk on Weds at 5-6pm PST (first weekly help desk for Spring starts 1/10). *Note that teams that forfeit in the Playoffs will only be eligible to receive the prize of the previous round played, if any*
