Action in Group Blue has now concluded for the second season of the Call of Duty World League Global Pro League seeding two teams into the $500 000 playoffs. This was the second group to conclude play after Group Red finished the previous weekend. For a recap from that week check out our summary. Read how the CWL Pro League Stage 2 Playoffs played out.
The group was exciting all weekend with 3 of the four teams having a chance to advance until the final matches were played making every game an exciting one. The sole exception to this was the eLevate squad that was unable to secure themselves a single map victory, going a horrendous 0-18 throughout the weekend.
While eLevate failed to impress anybody the remaining three teams in Group Blue all demonstrated they were capable of competing at an elite level. Ghost Gaming was certainly an underdog heading into action this weekend, but an incredible 4-0 start had them situated perfectly to advance from the group heading into the final day of play. Unfortunately they were unable to continue that momentum and suffered two
defeats in the final day that ultimately prevented them from moving forward.
The two teams that did advance from Group Blue this weekend were the favourite FaZe Clan and the up and coming Enigma6 roster. Both of these teams headed into the final day of play uncertain if they would advance due to the excellent start by Ghost Gaming. Fortunately they were both able to pull out big performances when they needed them most, and displayed that they had the ability to clutch games and perform under the highest levels of pressure.
That concludes half of the group stage action meaning FaZe Clan and Enigma6 will join Luminosity and Fnatic in waiting for the final four teams to qualify. Action will resume with the Yellow Group July 14-16th. The group will see Splyce, Eunited, Red Reserve EU and Rise Nation compete for two spots in the playoffs. The games kick off at 4PM EST on the official MLG channel on Friday July 14th.
